Beauty is in the Lies of the Beholder

Sister, You are beautiful.
Always beautiful.
Never not beautiful.
Beautiful no matter what.
Not beautiful “only if””
You are Beautiful, Beautiful, and Beautiful.

And I’m sorry that I never acknowledged the vast depths of beauty that you posses
while the shadows in which you lived and the pain that produced deep scars made you to obsess
over the images of beauty that said you thought you needed to obtain by spending more and thinking less.
Society selling lies on the covers of magazines convincing us that beauty can be purchased through catalogues and surgeries,
or taken from men through fake words and flattery, or stolen from yourself by lies and false intimacy.
And I just need to tell you that I am sorry. I am sorry for being part of the problem and not the solution.
Given the chance to pollinate your world with words of affirmation as my contribution instead I perpetuated through silence the dirty pollution
that would eventually litter your reality. And I am sorry that our Father never had the ability to acknowledge each and every ounce of your beauty,
and I can only imagine the pain that’s caused when a father ignores his only duty…. To tell his daughter that she is beautiful.

Daughters, You are beautiful.
Always beautiful.
Never not beautiful.
Beautiful no matter what.
Not beautiful “only if””
You are Beautiful, Beautiful, and Beautiful.

And when you revealed to me that as young daughter to never be told by her father the words that he should have told her, it broke my heart into pieces. And immediately I thought of Peyton and Taylor our beautiful nieces, so I called our brother to remind him that he has only one job as a father… say the words “You are beautiful”, over and over and over to his beautiful daughters until that belief is instilled so deep that when they face that battle in the mirror one day there will be no room for it to falter.

Women, Tell yourselves that:
You are beautiful.
Always beautiful.
Never not beautiful.
Beautiful no matter what.
Not beautiful “only if””
You are Beautiful, Beautiful, and Beautiful.

Trust me, I am the first to admit that misogyny is not a myth,
And the oppression that exists upon women in this society must be lifted.
But the way our consciousness can be shifted
Is by women believing their own beauty deep down inside
In the midst of a society that has always sold you lies.
And if anobody ever tries to tell you otherwise,
calmly gather your self stand up to their face and scream “LIES!”
Take back your self worth, grip these words into your hands and never let them go.

I am beautiful.
Always beautiful
Never not beautiful.
Beautiful no matter what.
not beautiful only if.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful.
